The 2007 Excavation Season
In August 2007 a two-week excavation season took place at Khirbet Qeiyafa. Despite the limited time, some aspects of the megalithic fortification were clarified. The wall is constructed from long casemates,
4 m wide and preserved to a height of 2.5 m. The city gate was located and partly excavated. The stones in the corner where the city wall and the gate meet are extremely massive, up to 5 tons in weight.
